Last month, from May 27th to 29th, the "I International Emerging Crops Symposium (IECS) – NutriCrop Network: Exploring the Role of Artificial Intelligence in Agricultural Innovation" was held in Madrid, Spain. The symposium aimed to connect researchers, industry experts, and professionals from the agri-food and health sectors related to emerging crops.

During the symposium, Professor Charalampos Proestos from the Laboratory of Food Chemistry, Department of Chemistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, gave an oral presentation on the "NanoCosmos" European project. The aim of this project is the valorization of waste from medicinal plants for use in the cosmetic industry.

In addition, Pol Gimenez Gil, a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Food Chemistry, presented a poster showcasing some of the results of the NanoCosmos study.
