Austrian Summit on Natural Products: Exploring Rhodiola Herba Extracts for Sensitive Skin Cosmetics

Dates: 3-6 March 2024
Location: Seefeld, Tyrol, Austria

We are excited to announce the presentation of our poster at the  Austrian Summit on Natural Products.  The summit took place from the 3rd to the 6th of March, 2024, in the  town of Seefeld, Tyrol, Austria.

Rhodiola rosea L. (Golden Root; Crassulaceae) is a perennial herb used traditionally for its adaptogenic properties, deriving from bioactive compounds like phenylpropanoids, rosarin, rosin, and salidroside. Typically, the aerial parts (Herba) are discarded in cultivation, but they possess radical scavenging activity and potential for cosmetic products. The MSCA-RISE project NanoCosmos (www.nanocosmos.eu) aims to utilize these parts by extracting valuable flavonoids using green technologies. In 2023, aerial parts of the “Mattmark” variety were harvested and analyzed at FloraMare Farm, Italy, revealing significant phenolic and flavonoid content with strong antioxidant potential, highlighting Rhodiola Herba’s promise in sensitive skin cosmetics.

Among the various intriguing topics that will be covered, we are particularly thrilled about a notable poster presentation titled:

“Extracts of Rhodiola Herba as a New Source of Bioactive Ingredients for Sensitive Skin Cosmetics”
